At the National Management Organization for Internet Providers (NBIP), we work together with our participants to realize a safer internet. As a center of expertise for DDoS Mitigation, Lawful Interception and Threat Intelligence Analysis, we provide support services to internet, hosting and cloud providers in the Netherlands and Europe. Who or what is the NaWas?

The NaWas, Nationale Wasstraat, offers internet (service) providers such as hosting and cloud parties unique protection against DDoS attacks. These types of attacks are a growing problem for the digital infrastructure. Participants of the NBIP work together to keep the costs of DDoS mitigation low and the availability and knowledge on this subject high. The NaWas has an excellent reputation and, together with other well-known commercial parties, is seen as a leading solution to mitigate DDoS attacks both in the Netherlands and abroad. What will you be doing?

  • Proactively and reactively taking steps to mitigate Layer 4-7 security attacks or threats against NaWas participants.
  • Analysing large amounts of network traffic for attack detection.
  • Interacting with NaWas participants under attack via phone, email and/or ticketing systems.
  • Proactive and real-time guidance of participants on network configuration and security protocols.
  • Documenting actions in incident management systems, knowledge base or ticketing systems.
  • Assisting NaWas participants with onboarding and provisioning.
  • Ensuring that documented processes and procedures are accurate and up to date.

What do you bring?

You have a passion for data security, you like solving problems and sharing knowledge with others. You perform well under pressure and are constantly looking for opportunities to further develop both yourself and your team.

  • You have a senior secondary vocational degree, or equivalent professional and intellectual ability
  • You have knowledge of web applications, Unix/Linux/Windows.
  • You have at least 1 years of experience as incident handler in a secure environment.
  • You can communicate technical and operational details in fluent English (written and oral).
  • You have excellent problem-solving skills, including analytical thinking and an eye for detail.
  • You have experience and knowledge of global routing and network technologies (BGP, ASN routing).
  • You think it’s important to keep procedures up to date.
  • You have basic knowledge of TCP/IP and network configuration.

What does a working day at NBIP look like?

A day at NBIP is challenging and varied. Together with our experienced team of engineers and analysts, you work to protect our participants against attacks and threats. You are responsible for managing the security systems of NaWas participants, ensuring real-time protection, and maintaining detection.

In addition to solving security issues, you have the opportunity to develop tools, attend training courses and contribute to improving our organisation and spreading security knowledge. You research new attacks and defence methods and support NaWas participants across Europe.
