NBIP NEXT 2026

On Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 November, NBIP is organising NBIP NEXT for the fifth time. Just like last year, the event took place at De Hooge Vuursche Castle, near Hilversum and Baarn.

On the first day of NBIP NEXT, Wednesday 25 November, the theme of digital resilience will take centre stage, and a DDoS mitigation track will be organised in collaboration with the Anti-DDoS Coalition. Alongside these familiar topics, we will also be marking NBIP’s 25th anniversary with, amongst other things, a reveal that is brimming with ambition.

On Thursday 26 November, ‘The Path to Digital Sovereignty’ is on the agenda. Just as last year, we will examine both policy and practice. Where will the Netherlands and Europe stand in 2026 on the path to digital sovereignty, and what are the next steps?

This theme has captured everyone’s attention and much has already been discussed. That is why, during this event, we will be examining it from technical, policy and geopolitical perspectives: what is actually happening right now among digital service providers and in the offices of national and European policymakers, and how does this relate to the rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape?

On the morning of 26 November, the annual participants’ meeting for NBIP participants will take place from 10.45 am to 12.00 pm (noon).

This part of NBIP NEXT is open to NBIP participants only. If your organisation is an NBIP participant, you can register for the participants’ meeting by ticking the relevant box on the form.

25 november – Law & resilience

Beacons in a shifting landscape

The European regulatory landscape is changing rapidly. NIS2, the Cyber Resilience Act, DORA and e-Evidence are being introduced in quick succession and have a direct impact on providers of digital infrastructure services. At the same time, the threat landscape is complex: attacks are becoming more sophisticated and large-scale, are increasingly intertwined with geopolitical tensions, and AI is creating possibilities that were previously unthinkable.

In short, it is becoming an ever-greater challenge to be both compliant and resilient. Complying with the rules is not the same as being resilient. Sharing information, working together and learning from one another is no longer a luxury, but a prerequisite.

On the first day of NBIP NEXT, we will therefore be working with the Anti-DDoS Coalition to set out a number of guiding principles within this landscape to help you navigate your course. What lies ahead, where are the opportunities, and what will it take for us to move forward together?

DINL & NBIP – An in-depth look at digital autonomy and resilience

What happens if the digital services on which organisations rely suddenly become unavailable? Sanctions, geopolitical tensions and growing dependence on a handful of non-European suppliers make this question more pressing than ever.

During this afternoon session on digital autonomy and resilience, we will delve deeper into the social and economic consequences of digital dependencies. We will discuss the practical implications of sanctions. And, just as importantly, we will explore the European alternatives that are already in place to take over.

The details of the programme will be announced in the coming weeks.

Caffarra is a competition expert and knows the world of big tech companies from the inside. She has made important contributions to competition investigations into mergers and antitrust cases for the European Commission. Caffarra does not mince her words and tells it like it is: we must work together to give shape to European digital autonomy as quickly as possible. At NBIP NEXT, she will share her vision during an inspiring keynote speech, followed by an opportunity for discussion.
