Quarterly update about DDoS attacks

DDoS attacks have become more powerful and complex compared to previous years. At the same time, we are seeing the duration of DDoS attacks increase. The increasing duration, complexity and scope of DDoS attacks fits into a trend that has been going on for several years. In 2018 and 2019, we recorded 938 and 919 attacks, respectively. In 2020, there were a whopping 1610. That represents a significant increase in the number of attacks in one year. This trend continues this year as well. In the first quarter of 2021, we’ve already detected more attacks than half of 2020. An enormous amount of 871 DDoS attacks, with the most powerful attack reaching 300 Gbps. In the second quarter of 2021 we see a slight decrease in numbers and power, but keeping the remarkably high numbers from the first quarter in mind, these numbers remain high compared to Q4 2020.
